Sweet and Savory Meatballs

Serves 6



1Pound Ground Pork

1 Pound Ground Beef

½ Cup Rolled Oats

½ Cup Milk

2 Large Eggs, Lightly Beaten

1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt

1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

½ Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper

2 Tablespoons Olive Oil

1 Medium Onion, Diced


1 Cup Pure Maple Syrup

½ Cup Prepared Yellow Mustard

5 Tablespoons Ketchup

½ Teaspoon Hot Pepper Sauce (Such As Tabasco®)

½ Teaspoon Kosher Salt


Step 1 Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Step 2 Combine ground pork, ground beef, onions, oats, milk, egg, salt, garlic powder, and pepper in a large bowl. Shape into meatballs, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

Step 3 Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs until evenly browned, about 8 to 10 minutes. Place meatballs into a 9×13 -inch casserole dish.

Step 4 Combine maple syrup, mustard, ketchup, hot pepper sauce, and salt for sauce in a medium bowl. Pour over meatballs and toss to coat.

Step 5 Bake in the preheated oven until set and cooked through, about 30 minutes, stirring halfway through. Serve over zucchini noodles or spaghetti with Mediterranean salad with lemon vinaigrette and garlic toast.
